Facebook employees can work remotely for a long time

Social networking company Facebook said on June 9 that it will allow employees to choose to continue working remotely for a long time, even offering to support those who want to move to another country.

Starting June 15, any employee who is taking on a job that can be processed online and wants to work this way will be allowed to offer to work remotely permanently.

Besides that, Facebook will also expand the scope of the telework policy, allowing work across national borders, supporting movement from the US to Canada as well as from European countries to the UK.

Announcing the aforementioned telework policy update, Facebook said: “We believe how we work is more important than where we work. We want to be a place where people can do their best work. do their jobs while ensuring employees continue to work, no matter where they are.”

Facebook and other Silicon Valley companies have transitioned to remote work since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak, relying on internet tools they created to do their jobs. 

Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg hopes the shift to work will be permanent in his company, so employees can work from where they want to live.

Recently, Facebook has begun to reopen offices after a long year of closure because of the epidemic, but without incentives like free meals or changing computers as before. 

Facebook said it will introduce flexible working hours for employees who work in the office at least half the time.

The vaccination against COVID-19 and the improving medical conditions are the reasons for the company to gradually return employees to the previously closed dormitories. 

The world’s leading social networking company predicts that by September, most of its dormitories in the US will be occupied by 50% of employees. Some of Facebook’s offices in Europe and Asia have also opened.
Safety regulations in the workplace, such as wearing masks and keeping physical distance, are enforced, in addition to regular testing.

Previously, Google and Microsoft announced similar hybrid mechanisms for employees, while some companies like Twitter have allowed employees to work remotely permanently.

Some Apple employees have signed a letter calling for more flexible working hours for those who have been able to work remotely for more than a year.

The letter states that the remote system works well and allows employees to better balance work-life, while reducing the risk of infection and is suitable for those who need special support.
